Sherryl Forbes Nye's Art & Bio
Sherryl Forbes Nye, a native of Louisiana, always had this idea that she could paint if someone could just get her started. At age 37 she discovered Larry Casso, the owner and instructor of Baton Rouge Fine Arts Academy where her love of painting began. Larry’s perspective was that if you could paint watercolor, you could paint anything! One year later she entered her first competition and won an “Honorable Mention” award. Since that time she has won many awards including “Best In Show” for her portrait of “Ramone” and an International Merit Award for her “Big Horn.”
She went on to study with master artist and portrait painter, William Carl Groh, for two years, participated in workshops with Daniel Greene, Gordon Wetmore and other esteemed professionals. Today, she paints in oil, acrylic and watercolor. She has many portrait and still life commissions hanging in homes around the country. You can see her work at the Artists Workshop Gallery in downtown Hot Springs. She can be contacted by emailing: ssnye@yahoo.com or on her blog at sherrylforbesnye.blogspot.com.
