Rita Turner's Art & Bio
Rita Turner is an artist in Hot Springs Village, where she and her husband, J.D., have lived since 2014. Prior to moving back to her native state of Arkansas, Rita and J.D. lived in North Texas for many years. Rita has had a lifelong interest in art but a career in banking took precedence until retirement, when she began painting in earnest.
Primarily an oil painter, Rita has studied under a number of national and local artists. She is most inspired to paint architecture and people in scenes, but she also paints arresting still lifes and landscapes. She has received several awards for her work, most recently at the 2019 Brush Strokes Woodlands Exhibition and in Cotter, Arkansas at “Plein Air on the White River”, an annual competition.
Rita is the publicity chair for Artists’ Workshop Gallery and is workshop chair for the Brush Strokes Art Club in Hot Springs Village.
